Som Tam(Papaya Salad) |
Here is a new and improved recipe for the famous northeastern Thai green papaya salad! This time around, I provide you with lots of tricks, tips, and explanations to make sure you can master this classic, delicious salad. This is also a very healthy dish, so I can let myself indulge without having to hold back!
Even if you’ve never been to Thailand, I’m sure you’ve heard of som tam – the most famous Thai salad.
There is nothing like a good bowl of refreshing salad for lunch, especially in Summers. I look out for simple and full of flavor salads, that are easy to make as making a full-fledged meal in the scorching heat of summers can be a task. So whenever I am alone or we are in a mood to eat something very light, I always opt for salads.
Preparation time-10 min
Cooking time- 20min
Total time- 30min
Difficulty level- easy
• Raw papaya (cut in Juliennes)
• 4 long beans (cut into small pieces)
• 1 carrot ( cut in juliennes)
• 6 garlic cloves (grated)
• 6 cherry tomato or 2 big tomatoes sliced
• 5 red or green chili
• 1 and ½ TSP sugar
• 3 tsp lime juice
• 2 tsp soy sauce
• 3 tsp ground peanut roasted
For garnishing green beans, chillis, and lime wedges
1. In a bowl add papaya, Beans, Carrot, and mix it well.
2. In another bowl add sugar, lime juice, soya sauce, garlic, chili for dressing
3. Pour the dressing over the salad and mix it.
4. Transfer the salad to the serving bowl add peanut on top.
5. Decorate with lime wedges and green beans. And serve immediately.
• Add the papaya and carrot julienne to chilled water to make it super crunchy and fresh
• Do not add salt, as soya sauce contain salt in it
• You can add shredded chicken, shrimp to the salad
